Water Safety 20 Jun 2017
Swimming is the most popular summer activity! To be sure that your family stay safe this summer, here are some helpful tips.
Teach children water safety and swimming skills at an early age.
Always swim with a buddy; do not allow anyone to swim alone.
Ensure babysitters understand the importance of water safety and constant supervision.
Always have a “designated watcher” to monitor children during social gatherings.
Don’t use flotation devices as substitute for supervision.
Enroll in a water safety, first aid, CPR/AED course.
Understand the basics of life-saving so that you can assist in a pool emergency.
Always stay within arm’s reach of young children and avoid distractions while in water.
If you go boating, wear a life jacket! Most boating fatalities occur from drowning.
Establish rules for your family and enforce them without fail. Set limits based on each person’s ability, do not let anyone play around drains and suction fittings.
