Swimming is the most popular summer activity!  To be sure that your family stay safe this summer, here are some helpful tips.

  • Teach children water safety and swimming skills at an early age.

  • Always swim with a buddy; do not allow anyone to swim alone.

  • Ensure babysitters understand the importance of water safety and constant supervision.

  • Always have a “designated watcher” to monitor children during social gatherings.

  • Don’t use flotation devices as substitute for supervision.

  • Enroll in a water safety, first aid, CPR/AED course.

  • Understand the basics of life-saving so that you can assist in a pool emergency.

  • Always stay within arm’s reach of young children and avoid distractions while in water.

  • If you go boating, wear a life jacket! Most boating fatalities occur from drowning.

  • Establish rules for your family and enforce them without fail. Set limits based on each person’s ability, do not let anyone play around drains and suction fittings.

Happy Swimming!
